Day 7: On-the-Go Adventure

After this morning’s green smoothie, I can’t stress enough that you need a NutriBullet to make these!¬†We left to spend the weekend with my parents and sister. I packed the NutriBullet so I could share it with the family and realized when we arrived that I left the blade at home. The most important part. So we tried to make it with the Ninja. FAIL!

Since the Ninja can’t pulverize the ingredients, it left bits and pieces of everything…kale, apple, almonds, etc. The proof is in the picture. It looked so gross and the texture was so weird. So I have called this the “Liquid Salad“. The good news aside from the color and texture is that it tasted really yummy. Phew!

It was so funny watching the family try some of it. My mom had to close her eyes and my dad asked if he could drink it in the dark!

Here is the recipe from Day 7!

  • Kale
  • Whole Green Apple
  • Sprinkle of Almonds, Goji Berries, and Chia Seeds
  • 1scoop Vanilla Protein Powder
  • 1/2 packet of Regular Stevia
  • Water

day_7The vanilla protein powder I used is from Maximized Living. You can buy it here. I highly recommend it as they use whole foods and natural sweeteners which make it taste awesome! And yes, it’s expensive, but it’s worth it. If you’re looking for a cheaper approved version you can buy Jay Robb Egg White Vanilla Protein Powder at your local Sprouts or Natural Grocers.

Today also marks one week of green smoothies! Woohoo!

Day 4: Superfood Smoothie

Power BlastI felt like I was catching a cold again so I made this awesome power smoothie full of great superfoods. And I can tell you it’s working!

I used the superfoods from Navitas Naturals. They are raw and certified organic! You can also buy their products on Amazon and get free shipping with Amazon Prime. You should check out their power snacks too – very tasty and filling!

Here is my superfood recipe from Day 4:

  • Kale (the best superfood out there!)
  • Whole Green Apple
  • 1/4 c. Sunflower Seeds
  • 1/4 c. Cacao Nibs
  • 1/4 c. Goji Berries
  • 1/2 tbsp. Coconut Oil
  • 2 drops Vanilla Stevia
  • Water
  • Ice

Superfood Blast Now you can see after this was blended together it honestly looked like crap. Thankfully it actually tasted pretty good. And I’m glad to say that all the superfoods in it are working. Looks and taste don’t matter as much as staying healthy!

Day 3: Berry Bash

NutriBlast Guess what? I remembered to take a picture this time! I made this one even better by including some of the ingredients. You can’t really see them that well but they’re all organic. ūüôā

Now I’m going to share something personal – I used to hate blueberries. My mom used to put them in pancakes when I was little, which ruined them for me. That was until I realized the amazing benefits of blueberries and how many antioxidants are in them. Now I eat them raw and pop them in my mouth like candy. So of course I had to make a NutriBlast with blueberries! I really got creative this time as you’ll see in the recipe below.

berry bash Berry Bash Smoothie

  • Baby Spring Mix
  • 1/2 c. Raspberries
  • 1/2 c. Blueberries
  • 1/4 c. Almonds
  • Ice cubes (optional)
  • 1/2 tbsp Coconut Oil
  • Almond Milk
  • 2 drops each of Vanilla and Blueberry Stevia

I found that before I added the stevia it was very bland. I added a lot of the blueberry and vanilla stevia and then it was perfect! If you don’t have those flavors of stevia you can always just replace it with regular stevia or a 1/4 c. of xylitol.

Day 2: The Green Machine

I figured that every blog that has smoothies always has a smoothie called “The Green Machine”. This one was pure green yumminess and super filling. And yes, I did forget to take a picture of my creation so words will have to do for now.

Green Smoothie¬†Challenge Quick TipBe Prepared and You Won’t Fail! Have you finished your week 1 grocery shopping and prepped all your foods? No?! Then you have set yourself up for failure. Read more here¬†and download your grocery shopping list.

Here is my recipe from Day 2:

“The Green Machine”

  • Kale
  • Whole Green Apple
  • 1/4 c. Raw Almonds
  • 1 drop Vanilla Stevia to sweeten
  • 1/2 tbsp Coconut Oil
  • Ice (optional)
  • Water

Again, this was really filling which was due to the added almonds. They’re a healthy fat that is super nutritious. You can read more about the health benefits of almonds here. ¬†The NutriBullet also blends these really well so you would have no idea almonds were in there!

Simply Stevia - Vanilla & BlueberryThe vanilla stevia I added is from the lovely company,¬†Simply Stevia, and has a great flavor that isn’t bitter like most brands of stevia. So any of the stevia I use in my recipes comes from them. They also last a long time since a little bit goes a long way.
